Hi, Sam,
Thanks for your contribution. In the first part of your post, you seem to be arguing as follows.
1. If God exists, then God is compassionate and willing to act.
2. If God is compassionate and willing to act, then God would not allow man...

No problem, Sam. Sorry you don't have time to discuss this stuff. It w...
Chris and Sam,
Thanks for taking the time to progress thru some of the issues brought to light. I’ve been lurking in the shadows with no real opportunity to engage.
Sam, I appreciate you offering the on-line resources. I have to admit; at times ...
Hi Chris,
You are right, I really don’t have that much time to discuss the finer details of humanism, Hume, inductive reasoning, epistemology or K. Popper’s philosophy of science.
I started the humanist vision of hope, as an introduction to huma...
Hi, Sam. I assume you started this discussion group because you are interested in discussing these things. If you are, I’d like to continue to discuss this stuff with you—not necessarily because I want answers to these questions, but because I’m i...

I would like to answer you fully, but these questions have been discussed in the humanist literature. You might have to dig deeper into humanism to answer your questions to your satisfaction and go directly to the sources on the interne...
THANK YOU, Bryan!
Congratulations on one year of Pub Theology! It's inspiring to know that there are people of a variety of backgrounds that are interested in talking and listening and learning from each other. But I'd like to give a huge "thanks"...
I was considering sticking around for Shane's talk in GR. However, I just realized he's bringing the tour to Orlando in mid-July. I have a friend in Gainesville who would probably go with me if I went then. So, I think I'll take off for Florida tomorrow so I can get settled in before classes start, and I'll try to catch Shane in Orlando. If I change my mind, I'll let you know.
I hope the tiling goes well; I can't wait to see my new room. :) If you end up going to GR, let me know how you like it.
Thanks for the plug on the book discussion page - haven't had a lot of people respond at this point - I think people like to keep the schedule freed up in summer - we'll see. I hope we can get at least 4 or 5 people. Are you going to hear Shane on Monday? Not sure if we'll make it - we're finishing up tiling our backroom on Monday.
